Covers African Sapele Timber is a dark, reddish brown hardwood that is strong and durable, and resistant to indentation. The Sapele Hardwood has an interlocking grain or wavy with a medium to fine texture. Sapele Timber is often used for joinery, exterior and interior, cladding, furniture, flooring, cabinetwork, decorative veneers, panelling and more. Sapele Timber is also available in log form, which when quarter sawn produces the familiar stripe figure. It works fairly easily with hand and machined tools, whilst takes screws and nails well.
