Covers employee takes on mammoth golf challenge for charity

An employee from Covers Timber & Builders Merchants is aiming to raise £2,000 for charity by playing 72 holes of golf during the longest day of the year – Monday 21st June.

Adam Wolniewicz, who works at the company’s Chichester depot, along with two friends, Anthony Hill and Tommy Hill, will be walking more than 20 miles in one day around Sunbury Golf Course, while playing four rounds of golf with the aim of raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Commenting on the challenge, Adam said:

“I love golf and have been playing it for years, so it made sense to combine the sport with raising funds for a charity that’s close to my heart. My two friends and I have all had family who have been cared for by Macmillan, so we wanted to do something to repay them for the amazing work they did and the support they gave our loved ones. Playing 72 holes in one day is going to be a tough challenge – we will need to start at sunrise and finish by sunset to ensure we have enough daylight. I cannot wait to get going and only hope the weather is kind to us!”

As part of Covers’ match funding scheme launched in 2019, the company has pledged to match Adam’s final fundraising amount up to £1,000.

Henry Green, Managing Director of Covers, added:

“We are delighted to be supporting Adam with our match funding scheme and helping him to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, which does such vital work for cancer patients and their families. We wish Adam and the rest of his team the very best of luck.”
