Covers pledges to match employee fundraising

Covers Timber & Builders Merchants has pledged to match any charity funds raised by its staff up to a maximum of £1,000.

The company, which is already a regular fundraiser and contributor to charity causes and community initiatives, launched the scheme in June. Its aim is to support staff already undertaking charitable work and encourage those who might be thinking about doing something for a worthy cause.

One of the first charitable events to benefit from the scheme was organised by Dominique Oliver  and Sue Boniface who work at the Covers Chichester depot. They raised £866 for two charities – Cancer Research and Family First Ghana – by selling second hand clothes and accessories as well as tea and cake. The final amount was doubled to £1,732 by Covers.

Dominique Oliver , Stock and Customer Collections Manager of Covers Trade Centre, Chichester, said:

“This is an amazing scheme. We are so pleased that Covers has taken the decision to support us, and other staff undertaking charity work, to help raise as much as possible for our chosen charities. It means a great deal to all of us and the charities involved.”

Henry Green, Managing Director of Covers, added:

“We have incredible staff who do a great deal for charity. It made sense to us to do as much as we can to support them in their endeavours and in turn help the worthy causes they are fundraising for. Our culture at Covers is very much focused on family and community, and helping others whenever we can. We are delighted to have launched this scheme and we hope that many charities will benefit from it in the future.”
