Covers renews sponsorship of Chichester Festival Theatre

Covers will be continuing its sponsorship of Chichester Festival Theatre for a fifth consecutive year.

As a Silver Principal Partner, the independent builders’ merchant, which has its headquarters on Quarry Lane, will appear in production programmes and brochures for shows being staged throughout the Theatre’s Festival 2018 and winter seasons. Covers will also be a lead production sponsor for the musical Me and My Girl, which runs from 2nd July to 25th August with a cast led by Matt Lucas and Caroline Quentin.

Chichester Festival Theatre first opened its doors in 1962 with the renowned actor and director Laurence Olivier as its first Artistic Director. The founder, former city mayor Leslie Evershed-Martin, had worked tirelessly to raise the £105,000 needed to bring his vision of a theatre for Chichester with innovative architecture to fruition. Over 55 years later, it is one of the UK’s flagship theatres; many of its productions transfer to the West End or tour nationally and internationally.

Commenting on the sponsorship Henry Green, Manager Director at Covers, said:

“We are delighted to be continuing our sponsorship of Chichester Festival Theatre. Just like Covers it has been part of the city’s landscape for many years and its rich history is testament to its success and service to the performing arts. We hope it continues to be part of our community for many more years to come.”

Vicky Gregory, Corporate Development Manager at Chichester Festival Theatre, added:

“The support of companies like Covers is so important to ensuring we can continue our work, running a thriving theatre that people of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy – whether through our productions or our extensive work with young people, schools and the local community.”
