New sponsorship helps Clanfield’s cricket teams ‘build’ for the future

The Chichester branch of Covers Timber and Builders Merchants is delighted to be the new shirt sponsor of Clanfield Cricket Club’s junior and women’s teams.

The builders merchants’ two-year sponsorship will help to support the players and their coaches. New shirts displaying Covers’ logo have been issued to the club’s two women’s teams who compete in the W10 Hampshire league, and the two junior teams for under 9 and under 11-year-olds. The Club also run All Stars and Dynamos which are national ECB programmes designed to introduce children to cricket

Clanfield Cricket Club was re-established in 1994 following several years of no club existing in the village. It has since gone from having just one men’s team playing friendlies to a thriving membership of over 100 ladies, men and juniors playing across nine teams.

The club is continually expanding by welcoming new members and is a supportive environment for anyone who wants to be involved in cricket. The club plays its games at South Lane Meadow and has recently received funding to construct a new pavilion this year.

Jon Marks, chairperson at Clanfield Cricket Club, commented “We’re incredibly proud to announce this exciting partnership with Covers Timber and Builders Merchants. The support from Covers shows a real investment in our junior and women’s teams We started the ladies team just over a year ago and they have already been to a league final.

“The ethos of this club is inclusivity, so we are pleased that through this partnership with Covers we can raise the profile of the game to women and young people. On behalf of everyone at the club, we would like to thank Covers for their investment in Clanfield Cricket Club and look forward to seeing their logo on our shirts for the next two years.”

Ben Gale, Marketing Manager of Covers Timber and Builders Merchants, added:

“Local sports teams give so much to the community, and we are delighted to be making this commitment to Clanfield Cricket Club’s junior and women’s teams. The club is doing fantastic work in encouraging people from the local area to get involved with the sport, and we wish them the very best of luck for the season – we’ll be looking out for their results.”
