Worthing company thanking business and community for fundraising donations

A team from Worthing-based company ECE Architecture has raised £915 for the G2 Neurological and High Dependency Unit at University Hospital Southampton after taking part in Shoreham’s charity raft race on Saturday 8th July.

ECE team member Selina Walker and partner Daryl Long, who is product manager at Covers Timber & Builders Merchant, have personal experience with the unit as their young son was treated and supported by the incredible G2 staff throughout his treatment and full recovery. The cause is therefore important to both companies.

To help the architecture firm build its raft, Covers donated £600 worth of supplies, which included treated carcassing, plywood, rope and fixings.

Paul Fender RIBA, Design Director at ECE Architecture, commented:

“Selina and Daryl received tremendous support from University Hospital Southampton, and our team wanted to say thank you by fundraising for the G2 unit. The team had great fun taking part in the raft race and would like to say a huge thanks to Covers for their generous donation of materials, and to everyone who donated.”

Daryl Long, Product Manager at Covers Timber & Builders Merchants, added:

“We are eternally grateful to everyone at the University of Southampton for the exemplary care they provided to our son. Being able to support charities, organisations, and businesses that are doing something good in our region is extremely important to Covers, so when my partner spoke about how her colleagues are taking part in the race to raise money for the hospital, I knew Covers would be happy to help.

“The raft looked great, and well done to the ECE Architecture team!”

All donations received by the ECE team will go towards the G2 ward and supporting the incredible work they do caring for children up to the age of 18 during treatment and recovery from neurological conditions, and their families.
